Good read
Honestly.......Energy! To be fair though, I couldn't get very far past the first couple of pages before I rolled my eyes and returned the book.
This book is not really about alpacas. It's about the author's idea that she can "share energy" and telepathically communicate with animals...from alpacas to monkeys at the zoo just by thinking at them. If you're looking for something a little less "woo" and more practical about working with alpacas, this isn't the book for you. If, however, you are into homeopathy, sunning your crystals, and communing with squirrels...this will be right up your alley. It's not uninteresting, it's just really hard to get past the Dr. Dolittle bit. Otherwise, the stories about the alpacas are interesting.
This charming book is a quick and easy primer on the life and loves of an alpaca breeder. And wonderful stories for anyone who loves alpacas and animals, or life. I had to order more copies for friends, after I read mine.
This is a GREAT read and fast. If you love reading stories about humans connecting with all sorts of animals (not just alpacas), this book will be one of your favorites. It would be an excellent selection for teens and pre-teens, too.
I am new to Alpaca Farming and looking for ways to connect easily with my alpacas and work with them on training. I have a couple of alpacas that are very skittish. In conversing with Cindy she gave me some helpful tips in positive energy that were helpful in me helping them relax and actually let me rub and love on them. As I am reading the book I start myself to feel very relaxed and peaceful. So I took the book and went to the barn and continued reading (some of it out load) as my alpacas cushed around me. One even cushed next to me. As I was reading the book in my state of peace it felt as though I was listening to her, not so much reading it. It is a very easy read, flows well and really enlightens you to the positive energy that can flow, in my case between me and my alpacas and llama.
